The Fifth "Hug My Baby at Wolong" Concludes Successfully
On September 23, 2009, the employees of Wolong Panda Club say goodbye to the adopters from all over the world at Ya'an Ibis Hotel. The fifth "Hug My Baby at Wolong" draws a successful conclusion.
For the activity, Wolong Panda Club specially rents two coaches to welcome the adopters in Chengdu. They include Pandas International's Director Ms. Suzanne Braden, Ms. Margaret Gatenby from Australia, Chair of Ocean Park Conservation Foundation of Hong Kong Ms. Chen Qing, Director of Panda Protection Institute of Japan Mr. Tanaka KMjM, old friend Mr. Yuan Xiong, and guests from Cape Verde (ALPINEX) Outdoor Int'l Group Ltd., OSRAM, NCM, Changhong, SOMO and so on.
In a long term, Wolong Panda Club receives substantial support and help from the people all over the world, especially after 5.12 Wenchuan Earthquake. To thank their care and support to the giant panda and help to Wolong Panda Club, and strengthen the friendship as well as communication with the adopters, Wolong Panda Club began to hold "Hug My Baby at Wolong" since 2005. And now it is the fifth. In the activity, the guests put on the keepers' uniform and experienced how to take care of the giant panda. On the exchange meeting with the panda experts, all of them expressed their pride in contributing to the giant panda with the hope that they can call for more and more people to join in the team of giant panda conservation. What made them more excited were taking pictures with panda cubs and planting bamboos in the "Garden of Love" for the pandas, which would be the best memory for this trip.



On the guest appreciation dinner on 22nd, the sectary-general of Wolong Panda Club Mr. Zhou Xiaoping issued Volunteer Certificate to the guests to thank their hard work made to the giant pandas together with Mr. Huang Yan, the deputy sectary-general of the club. The chairman of the club Mr. Li Desheng addressed his gratitude to the guests for their arrival and support on behalf of CCRCGP and Wolong Panda Club and issued adoption certificate to Cape Verde (ALPINEX) Outdoor Int'l Group Ltd. He and Mr. Wang Pengyan, the honor chairman of Wolong Panda Club, awarded the ten-year anniversary cups to Mr. Yuan Xiong and Ms. Suzanne Braden. Mr. Yuan Xiong began to adopt giant panda Jing Jing since 1998 and Suzanne Braden adopt Harvey since 1999. Now both of their adoption periods have been over ten years. What's more, their long-term care and support to Wolong Panda Club made everyone feel very warm. Mr. Li Desheng also issued a special contribution cup to Pandas International, which is a non-profit organization in USA. It provides a lot of help to CCCRCGP, including raising funds for the giant panda conservation, scientific research, medical care, habitat protection and donating equipments, milk powder, medicines to the center, etc. It also develops adopter throughout the world and now there are over 60 members. Ms. Miwako from Panda Protection Institute of Japan also presented a gift to Wolong Panda Club--a beautiful picture of panda cub drew by herself.





After the appreciation dinner, all the guests went to participate in the camp fire party with the employees of the center. Besides, the guests visited Mengding Mountain, Shangli Old Town and Bifengxia Wildlife Zoo during the activity. They think it is very significant and will come again in the future.
